No player account

Games do not require registration, an email address or a real name. A name in a friend room is optional. The portal currently has no advertisements, paid AI requests or third-party visitor analytics tools.

This does not mean browsing sends no data. The server and the Cloudflare infrastructure serving the site need technical requests, and online games need game actions.

What stays in this browser?

LocalStorage saves your language, theme and sound choices, personal game statistics, recent results and saved game progress. It also stores random credentials needed to resume your word session or your seat in a friend room.

Saving a progress backup creates a JSON file on your device. Transfer from the previous address takes place directly between two windows in your browser; we do not upload the backup contents to the server. The file may contain room credentials, so keep it private. Before replacing existing progress, a previous copy is kept in the same local storage and can be downloaded from Settings.

Personal statistics are not automatically synchronised between devices. A different browser or website address has separate local storage. Private browsing and browser-cleanup settings may remove these records.

What does the game server need?

The Daily word and Word climb server receives session identifiers, the chosen word language and submitted guesses so it can validate them. Friend rooms also store the room state, seat tokens, game actions and an optional player name. These are needed to check legal moves and restore a connection.

A friend room expires no later than two hours after creation, or after a player has been disconnected for ten minutes. The server cleanup mechanism removes expired room state. A Daily word server session lasts three days from creation; a Word climb server record is removed three days after that period ends. These are separate from statistics saved in your browser.

A secret Hangman word is withheld from the guessing player until the game ends. In a word duel, your friend sees your attempt count, not your guesses. An invitation link can grant access to an available room seat, so do not post it publicly when you only want to play with a particular person.

Word suggestions and review

A word is submitted for review only when you press the suggestion button. The stored record contains the word, language, review status, submission and update times, and suggestion count. Rejected guesses are not all automatically turned into suggestions.

To limit repeats and spam, a pseudonymous sender identifier is calculated from the IP address using SHA-256 with a server secret. The owner does not see an IP address in the word-review list. These suggestion vote records are normally cleaned up within 2–3 days. Pending and rejected suggestions with no updates are removed after 90 days; approved words are retained in the dictionary.

Only the authenticated owner can review the suggestion list. Owner sign-in uses a necessary HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict session cookie for administration requests; the session lasts up to 30 days or until sign-out. Ordinary players do not need this administration cookie.

Technical requests and spam protection

Cloudflare serves the public site and backend. It processes the IP address and other technical request information, such as the requested address and headers sent by your browser. Technical log handling also depends on Cloudflare service settings. Game-session lifetimes are not a statement about how long all infrastructure logs are kept.

Request rate limits group requests by IP address and action type. Their temporary state stores request timestamps from the past minute and is automatically cleared just over a minute after the last new request. This protects against misuse; it is not an advertising profile.

What can you control?

You can turn sound off, change the theme and language, choose not to submit a word, leave your room name blank, and keep links to yourself. Reset personal statistics in the statistics panel after confirming the action.

To remove all local portal data, clear this site's data in your browser settings. This removes preferences, statistics, saved progress and credentials; you may be unable to recover your room seat. Clearing local data does not withdraw a submitted dictionary suggestion or delete server logs.

When sharing through another app, that app receives the text, link or image you choose to send and handles it under its own policies.
