BearNap astronomy image sources and usage record Reviewed: 2026-10-22 The ten JPEGs below are actual mission photographs or composites/projections made from mission photographs. They were downloaded from official NASA image servers at 640-pixel width and retained without local image edits. Processing and composite-image limitations are recorded in the LT/EN image captions. NASA image/media guidelines: https://www.nasa.gov/nasa-brand-center/images-and-media/ NASA permits factual educational/informational reuse under its published guidelines, with acknowledgement and without implying endorsement. This is not a blanket licence for every file on a NASA website: separately identified third-party copyright material has separate rights. No such image-specific copyright reservation was identified in the selected captions reviewed here; all listed mission-partner credits are retained. JPL image-use policy: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/jpl-image-use-policy/ JPL's published policy permits reuse subject to attribution, non-endorsement and its stated special cases. It also addresses educational reuse of third-party material. This record does not claim every credited partner's work is public domain or establish a blanket commercial licence. Per-file sources and SHA-256 checksums: data/astronomy/image-sources.json in the project source. Source pages, exact download URLs and retrieval evidence are retained in the private research checkpoint. mercury.jpg — NASA/Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory/ Carnegie Institution of Washington. The historic image's strong blue is enhanced, not an exact natural-colour reference. Natural Uranus/Neptune colours are closer than this pair suggests. https://science.nasa.gov/photojournal/neptune-full-disk-view/ ceres.jpg — NASA/JPL-Caltech/UCLA/MPS/DLR/IDA. New Horizons LORRI/Ralph composite, PIA20291. https://science.nasa.gov/photojournal/color-image-of-pluto/ Original SVG artwork eris.svg, haumea.svg and makemake.svg are original BearNap project artwork, constructed from vector geometry and gradients. They contain no downloaded artwork or third-party texture. Rights remain with the project owner; this notice does not grant a new public licence to third parties. These three images are schematic illustrations, not photographs or measured surface maps. Their shapes, lighting, colours and viewing angles are simplified. NASA links identify scientific background, not the author of these SVGs. Haumea is shown elongated with a narrow ring; Makemake has a representative reddish-brown colour. No invented continents, craters or resolved ice fields are presented as observations. Neither NASA, JPL, Caltech nor any mission partner endorses BearNap. No agency logo or identifiable person is included. Objects are not presented to scale.
